Learning Lens 15th July 2022

The penultimate week of term 6 has been another busy one and rather hot too. Yesterday we celebrated getting all our marbles in the jar with a 'beach-themed day' . This involved lots of fun on the school field at Bidborough on Sea. We had splashing fun in the water tray and built sandcastles too. We had a scavenger hunt where we had to find sea-side items hidden around the school. We had our very own beach huts where we chilled with books and bubbles. We played tennis and french cricket, painted and coloured and hung out with our friends. In the afternoon we needed to cool off and enjoyed the water spray and ice-lollies!

During the rest of the week we have been:

  • practising for our sports day races
  • writing letters from the giant about naughty Jack
  • collecting and interpreting  data in maths
  • investigating the /oy/ phoneme and the different spellings of this sound in words like joyful, unspoilt and oyster
  • measuring how tall our beanstalks and sunflowers have grown.

I have set mathletics for the last time this year. You might want to go and check that you have completed all the activities. There is of course some TT Rockstars games to hone your multiplication skills over the Summer too.

Have a great weekend. Don't forget that the Summer Reading Challenge began last Saturday the 9th July. If you haven't already signed up get yourself a pack at your local library. Let's see if Bidborough can win the school trophy again for the most challenges completed.
